Privacy Policy
Chaumydung provides the Episode Recorder Chrome extension. This policy explains how the extension handles information when it records authorized videos from supported learning portals.
Information the extension handles
- Supported website content: series, chapter, section, episode title, labeled duration, playback state, the rendered video stream, and narrowly matched dialog text needed to continue playback.
- Browsing activity on the supported origin: the supported playback URL, tab identifier, course identifier, and episode identifier needed to navigate and resume a recording task.
- Open-tab metadata: URLs and titles are checked transiently to find the supported playback route and remove duplicate playback tabs. Metadata for unrelated tabs is not stored, changed, or transmitted.
- Local recording data: recorded media chunks, output file names, file size, media duration, completion status, warnings, and recovery metadata.
- User settings: playback speed, recording range, output preferences, retry limits, and related extension settings.
- Local file access: a folder handle selected by the user and metadata for files that the extension created or can precisely associate with a recording task.
The extension does not read passwords, authentication cookies, payment information, personal communications, form entries, microphone audio, or system audio.
How information is used
The extension uses this information only to identify authorized episodes, record the rendered video and its existing audio track, save organized local files, show progress, recover interrupted tasks, avoid duplicate work, and delete only incomplete files that it can safely attribute to the task.
Local processing and data transmission
Episode Recorder processes recording data on the user's device. It stores task state in Chrome extension storage, directory permissions in extension-scoped IndexedDB, temporary recording buffers in the browser's origin-private file system, and completed files in the user-selected folder or the Chrome Downloads directory.
The extension does not send website content, playback URLs, recorded media, file metadata, settings, identifiers, diagnostics, or usage analytics to Chaumydung or to third-party services. It contains no remote analytics SDK and executes no remotely hosted code.
Sharing and service providers
The extension does not share handled information with Chaumydung, advertising networks, data brokers, analytics providers, or other third parties. Chrome and the supported learning portal continue to operate under their own terms and privacy practices; Episode Recorder does not change the portal's normal network requests.
Retention and deletion
Extension settings, task state, course summaries, directory permissions, and temporary buffers remain on the device until they are cleared by the user, removed by Chrome, or replaced by later task state. Choosing “Create another task” clears the current task record but does not delete completed recordings.
Uninstalling the extension removes access to extension-scoped state according to Chrome's storage behavior. Completed recordings and manifests exported to Downloads or a user-selected folder remain there until the user deletes them manually. The extension does not keep server backups.
Security
The extension limits injected page access to supported HTTPS playback pages, keeps executable logic inside the extension package, and uses local browser storage and file APIs. Because no system can guarantee absolute security, users should protect their Chrome profile and local recording folders with appropriate device controls.
User choices
Users decide when to start, pause, resume, stop, retry, or clear a task; whether to select an external output folder; and which authorized recording range to process. Users can stop the task or uninstall the extension to withdraw access. Folder access can also be revoked through browser or operating-system controls.
Chrome Web Store User Data Policy
The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide and improve Episode Recorder's single, user-facing recording purpose.
Authorized use
Episode Recorder is for content the user owns or has explicit permission to record. It must not be used to bypass access controls or to copy, distribute, share, or sell content without authorization.
Changes to this policy
If a future version materially changes its data practices, this page and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before the change is released. Where required, the extension will present a new in-product disclosure and request affirmative consent.
